The Industrial Estate Authority of Thailand (IEAT) had a plan to develop the Laem Chabang Industrial Complex, which is a project in the eastern seaboard development programme, over an area of about 544 hectare for full development adjoining the area of Laem Chabang Port in Sriracha District, Chonburi Province.
The Industrial complex consists of General Industrial Estate (GIE), Export Processing Zone (EPZ), business and commercial areas. In addition, an area of about 928 hectare adjacent to the Industrial Complex has also been prepared for development of a new town.
Southeast Asia Technology Co., Ltd. (SEATEC) in association with two Japanese and other four local engineering consulting firms were appointed by the IEAT to conduct the detailed design and construction supervision of the project, which included preparing land use plan and site layouts, conduct field investigation, environmental impact assessment, and administration building, custom house, canteen and exhibition building, staff residence, warehouse, standard factories, control buildings (total 60 buildings) and basic infrastructure.
